From the Prez!

October 2014

Greetings all Cruisers!

The October meeting of the Keystone Kruisers Car Club was held at 7:00PM on Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Cabin Green Golf Club.

For those of you that were unable to attend, here is a brief synopsis of the goings on:

A buffet meal was served by the kitchen staff, including, but not limited to, fried chicken, stuffed peppers, scalloped potatoes, green beans with bacon, (I put bacon on anything!) and desert. (Homemade pies) As usual, the food was outstanding!

The President reviewed happenings from August's meeting up until the present, including the Ice Cream Poker Run, our assistance to the AACA Club at the Walmart Cruise, and the Club Picnic. As all members have previously received correspondence from me regarding same, and to reduce boredom and the chance of putting you to sleep, the details will not be repeated here.

Since our last meeting, new members Greg SAMOSKY and Kevin and Marsha WILLIAMSON have joined the club. WELCOME!!

The Vice President brought us all up to date on the few remaining cruises this year. Be sure to check the website for all upcoming events. Bill does a GREAT job of keeping it current. The slide show discs from our 2014 cruise are not yet completed, but shall be finished and sent to the sponsors by Christmas.

The Treasurer reported that we currently have $4,272.23 in the bank.

New Business discussed included the upcoming Christmas gift. There were ideas presented as to where the monies should be given, including the "Wounded Warriors" Project, The Mechling-Shakely Veterans Center, and/or members' families in need. No decision was made, and the matter shall be decided on at the November meeting. We want YOUR ideas!

Club members present voted by a showing of hands to purchase four (4) folding tables to be used at the Club Picnic, cruises, and/or other associated events. Members also voted to commission and send a dash plaque along with the video of the 2014 cruise to all cruise sponsors.

Roy WILLIAMSON suggested that we send the same (DVD and dash plaque) to perspective sponsors. To be decided on at November's meeting.

MARK THIS DATE: MARK THIS DATE; MARK THIS DATE; etc, etc, etc!
(With apologies to The King and I)

The Club Christmas Party has been set for Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Cabin Green Golf Club. We will eat at 6:00PM. The menu and cost have yet to be determined. Another thing to settle at the November meeting!

The AACA (Kittanning) Club will hold it's annual banquet on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at Cabin Green. Dinner will be served at 6:30PM. All Keystone Kruiser members are invited to attend. Contact Bobbie JENSEN for details.

Also, the AACA is planning a five card Poker Run scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2014. It will start at 1:00PM at the Park-and-Ride by McDonald's in the Franklin Village Mall. Call Bobbie or Jorn JENSEN for further details.

Due to the unpredictable weather and lack of events, it was decided to forego regular club meetings during the months of December, January and February. We will have our Christmas Party in December, and regular monthly meetings shall resume on March 5, 2015. Anything special shall be transmitted via e-mail or the good old fashioned telephone!

Please try to attend November's meeting. There will be many issues to discuss and settle:

  • It will be the final meeting of 2014. Dues for 2015 membership will be accepted at this time.
  • We need to decide on a menu for the Christmas Party and advise the kitchen staff of same.
  • We need to decide on our Holiday Gift to others. Where it will go and how much shall be given.
  • November is election month. We HAVE to elect new Officers to serve during the upcoming year.
    YOUR VOTE COUNTS!!!

As you can see, there has been a lot going on, and a lot coming up. Folks, this is YOUR club. Your current elected board only do what YOU want. Let us know what YOU are thinking, hearing, needing, talking about, etc.

Have a safe Halloween, and hope to see ya at one of the remaining cruises!

    Until then,

    Stay safe

    Randy
