  • There were 49 people in attendance at the annual club picnic.
  • On 8/19/15, I was approached by one Barry Soxman, of Tarentum, PA, requesting that the club consider donating part of our Annual Christmas Charity Gift to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
  • November is the annual election of Club Officers. Start thinking about who should lead your club for the next year.

    TREASURER'S REPORT

We currently have $3,691.36 in our bank account

    NEW BUSINESS

The annual Christmas Party shall be held on December 12, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 Pm at the Cabin Green Golf Club. The cost shall be $15.00 per person.

All Christmas Party reservation monies shall be payable to Russ Collar ( by check, please ) no later than December 1, 2015. We need to have a headcount for the kitchen staff at that time.

    The menu shall consist of:

  • Tossed salad
  • Sliced Roast Beef
  • Roast Turkey with stuffing
  • Whipped (I still call them mashed) potatoes
  • Noodles
  • California Mix vegetables ( broccoli, carrots and cauliflower)
  • Vanilla ice cream with chocolate topping
  • Rolls and butter
  • Tea, coffee, soft drinks and iced tea

All the above, all you want, for a measly $15.00 per person, plus you get to enjoy the company of your friends! Great deal for a great meal! Get for money in early.

As of October 1, 2015, your 2016 Keystone Kruiser dues are able to be paid. Please remit the $15.00 renewal cost (Check only, please) for the year 2016 to Russ Collar. After December 1st, there will be a surcharge of $5.00, for a total of $20.00 for your dues. Pay early! As a matter of fact, the best way to remember is to send Russ the money for your 2016 dues, and your Christmas Party reservation in one check!

For New members, dues are always $15.00 for the first year.

Next year, we, as a club, shall celebrate our 20th anniversary. 20 years! That's a great accomplishment! We need some ideas on how to celebrate!

    Suggestions have included:

  • A special cruise T-shirt stating 20 years strong
  • Including a 20 years strong notification on our plaques
  • Special, general usage, t-shirts for our members showing our 20 year strong pride.
  • A notation of 20 years strong on all correspondence, including sponsor, thank you letters and Get Well Cards.

Last year, the club received a number of wooden trophy base boards from past member Gary Creel. It was voted on to utilize these wooden bases for our 2016 trophies, and have the metal wording plate produced and affixed by JnJ Graphix. This will save the club approximately 2/3 the cost of a purchased trophies. Suggestions were made to include :

  • One student entry trophy marked "President's Choice"
  • One longest distance traveled trophy
  • One oldest person in a cruiser in attendance trophy
  • Anything else we can think of!

There was a discussion of hiring The Doo-Wop Shoppe, a trio of Doo-Wop singers, to perform at our 2016 cruise. The cost to the club would be between $600.00 to $800.00 for a two-set show.

Both pros and cons were discussed, including, but not limited to:
    Where would they perform?
Should we retain a DJ for announcements? (At an additional cost)
Should we charge additional monies for the show?
    Will the VFD profit?
    What if it rains???

This shall be a very important decision and undertaking for the club if it voted to act on same. The decision was tabled until the November meeting for members to reflect on the best course of action.

It was decided to donate $1,500.00 as part of our annual Christmas Giving. Mentioned for possible recipients include:

  • Armstrong County Sheriff's Department for the K-9 Unit
  • Orphans of the Storm
  • Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center
  • Any others suggested by the members at November's meeting.

The final recipients and quantities given shall be determined at November's meeting.

After discussion, it was decided that the Club shall no longer donate monies to individual members in need. It is felt that this action may "open the door" for hard feelings among the membership. Who is to say that this person/family is in more need than another member/family. Should the need arise, anytime throughout the year, special donations can be collected and forwarded to the appropriate person(s). Fund raisers can also be held to help, if needed.

There shall be no formal meeting held during the months of December, January, February, March or April. Regular monthly meeting will resume in May of 2016.

The Kittanning Region of the AACA shall have it's annual banquet at Cabin Green Golf Club on Saturday, November 7, 2015. All Keystone Kruiser members are invited and encouraged to attend. For details, contact Kittanning Region President Bobbi Jensen.

    SICK AND INJURED

    As above

    NEXT MEETING

The next, and final meeting for 2015, shall be held on November 5, 2015 at Cabin Green. 6 to eat - 7 to meet.

Please extend an extra effort to attend this meeting as the following needs to be addressed and settled at that time:
    1. Election of Officers
    2. Payment of your dues (by check, please) to avoid being assessed the additional $5.00
    3. Discussion on which trophies to produce for the 2016 cruise
    4. Major decision on the Doo-Wop Shoppe show at the cruise
    5. 20 years strong ideas

As you see, your participation is vital. We have made the Keystone Kruisers A PREMIER CLUB, and it shall continue to be a premier club, but we can't do it without you. Your thoughts, your ideas, your attendance and participation are VITAL so that we can grow and continue to be the club that our members want it to be.

Thanks for staying with me during this long correspondence. I hope that your eyes aren't as sore from reading this as my fingers are from typing it!

See ya at next months meeting.

    Until then, Stay Safe

    Randy
