From the ex officio President!

October 2017

Greetings All Cruisers!

The October meeting of the Keystone Kruisers Car Club was held on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Cabin Green Golf Club. After a delightful dinner, we got down to the business at hand. For those of you that were unable to attend, here is a recap of the meeting.

The President reported that we currently have 45 members, and welcomed new members Dave and Lori ROBINSON to their first meeting! Welcome aboard!

There were 85 members and friends at the Club picnic. What a GREAT turnout! The total cost to the club was $240.00. The Club thanks Russ and Shirley COLLAR for once again hosting the picnic at their house and Rich and Barb BOROSKI for providing the excellent fish. A great time was had by all!

Vice President JOHNSON and Cathy VALASEK are reported as being ill. Get Well Cards have been sent to both. We wish them a full and speedy recovery! Get well soon!!!

On Monday night, October 2nd, at the King's Cruise in Sarver, Randy and Jackie KRUSE won 3rd place in the costume contest. Jackie was dressed as a Policeman and Randy was dressed as a convict. Congrats to them!

The Club's Fall Cruise shall be held on Sunday, October 15th. We shall meet at the Sunoco station just north of Cowansville on SR 268. This is where the old Tatter's Tavern once stood, and it is also the road to turn to go back to the COLLAR estate! If you need direction or assistance, please contact any board member, and rest assured that we'll getcha there! We will leave from the Sunoco station at 11:00 AM for destinations unknown! In case you have your cruise car stored for the winter or if it's bad weather, bring your grocery getter! It doesn't matter what ya drive, just come along for the fun!

In accordance with our bylaws, next month we vote for our Officers that will lead our club forward in the year 2018. So far, nominated for the offices are:

  • Randy KRUSE, President
  • Bill JOHNSON, Vice President
  • Secretary, Russ COLLAR
  • Assistant Secretary, Belinda OLINGER
  • Treasurer, Sherry MONTGOMERY.

We shall accept any and all additional nominations and vote at the November meeting, so it's important that you attend and let your voice be heard!

We shall also discuss the recipients and the monetary amounts of our Christmas Giving Program. Last year, we gave monies to the Orphans of the Storm, The Armstrong County K-9 Unit, the Salvation Army, (Kittanning Station) and the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center.

Our annual Christmas Dinner shall be held at the Cabin Green Golf Club on December 9, 2017, starting at 6:00 PM. The menu, as decided by hand vote, shall consist of the following:

  • Tossed Salad
  • Baked Glazed Ham
  • Turkey and Stuffing
  • Whipped Potatoes
  • Buttered Noodles
  • (and Roy WILLIAMSON will bring the cranberry sauce!)

A vegetable, rolls and butter, coffee or tea and a dessert is included in the price of $15.00 per person. Quite a bargain, wouldn't ya say? Sign up forms shall be available at the November meeting, and on-line soon. The Christmas Party is always a good time, and we hope you'll join us for fun and food!

RSVP, with payment, is due no later than November 20 for the Party.

Also, November is the time to renew your Club membership. Remember that the dues are $15.00 per family per year. Members who joined and paid dues after this year's picnic are exempt from paying 2018 dues, as your current 2017 dues hold over for 2018.

Make it easy on your self, come to November's meeting and take care of the issue then, or once the application for the Christmas Dinner and dues renewal forms come on-line, print it out, and write one check for both! Either way, hope to see you at the meeting and at the Party!

Treasurer MONTGOMERY reported that we currently have $4,358.00 in the bank. She also reported that she had checked on our club insurance and stated that we were covered for any club related activities, such as our annual cruise, and any and all other club sponsored functions, such as our upcoming Fall Cruise on November 15th.

Roy WILLIAMSON is offering, free, to any member, a 12-14 foot Frazier Christmas tree. It's a beautiful tree and can grace the inside of any home this Holiday season. Persons interested should contact Roy as soon as possible.

We received 8 Hi-Vis Safety vests for Club usage. These are easily seen and shall add to the safety of our members. These were donated by McDonald's of Leechburg, and shall be used by the members at the registration tent and members parking cruisers at our annual cruise. They were modeled to the members by Randy KRUSE.

Our next meeting is November 2, 2017. 6 to eat / 7 to meet! As you can see, the November meeting will have a full plate! We need every member to try to attend to determine the future of your club.

    See ya there!

    Until then, stay safe,

    Mystery Cruise Update

    Greetings To All!

The Keystone Kruisers Car Club went on it's annual "Mystery Cruise" on Sunday, October 15, 2017. It's called a mystery cruise, because nobody knows where we are going! Only our Fearless Leader, Russ COLLAR, knows where we will end up. One thing is for sure, the pace is casual and with the twisty roads Russ finds, you can check the back end of your car (numerous times) to make sure the taillights are working!

We left the Sunoco station on RT 268 in Cowansville at 11:00 AM, and after a brief stop at the Overlook in East Brady, it was on to Rimersburg for RE-fueling and DE-fueling, as needed! During the cruise, there were many different scenic areas and objects to peruse. We went to places I've never been before! You can rest assured that most people have never seen these byways of our beautiful Commonwealth. We encountered everything from an Amish Church Service to road apples and downed trees!

Dinner was at the Family Tradition Restaurant in Harrisville. In all, we traveled 127 miles, had 10 cars in our caravan, and 19 members and friends went along for the ride. It was a GREAT DAY! Remember, this is a yearly fall occurrence, so keep your eyes open for next year's "Mystery Cruise!" You'll be glad you did!

Remember that our club meeting is on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Cabin Green Golf Club. 6 to eat / 7 to meet! My last correspondence outlined how important the November meeting is to all members. (IE: Officers Elections, Christmas Giving decisions, etc.) Please make an effort to attend.

Also, online at our website, you can now find the reservation form for the annual Christmas Dinner, and your 2018 membership renewal form. Print both and send them to Belinda with the appropriate check. An easier, and really much better, way is to take care of this business at the meeting. We'll have the forms there! Questions??? Call me or any Officer.

Well, fall is upon us, so remember to check your heating system for safety, put away the screens and dig out the storm windows and heavy coats.( Oh yea, and Jackie is on me to rake the leaves, darn leaves!)

See ya at the meeting! (If the leaves are done)

    Until then, stay safe
