From the President!

October 2018

KEYSTONE KRUISERS
22 YEARS STRONG...AND STILL GROWING!

Greetings and salutations! (With thanks to E. B. WHITE)

The October meeting of the Keystone Kruisers Car Club took place on Thursday, October 4, 2018. After a delicious buffet dinner, we got down to the matters at hand. For those of you that were unable to attend, here is a brief synopsis of that meeting:

President's Report:

  • Made opening remarks and greeted new member John HEIGERT to his first meeting. Welcome John and family!
  • There were 25 member in attendance,
  • Announced that DJ Manny has been contracted for our 2019 Cruise at a cost of $225.00.
  • The WWFVFD has confirmed the date for our 2019 cruise.

Vice President's Report

  • Absent due to being hospitalized.
  • See our web page for information on the few upcoming cruises that remain.

Secretary's Report.

  • On Sunday, October 21, 2018, the club will have it's annual "Mystery Cruise." It's called a Mystery Cruise because only our fearless leader, Russ COLLAR, knows where we are going! Last year the 9 cars in the caravan traveled approximately 120 miles before stopping at the Family Traditions Restaurant in Harrisville for dinner. Mark the date, October 21st! Starting location and time to be announced by email at a later date. In case of bad weather, bring your "grocery getter," It doesn't matter what you drive, just come on along with the family for the fun and fraternization! (Note the 50 cent word, there, folks, fraternization!)

Assistant Secretary's Report:

  • We currently have 43 members.

Treasurer's Report:

  • We currently have money in our account.

Old Business:

  • Reviewed the Annual Picnic.. We had 45 persons in attendance, but food for twice that amount. I feel the low attendance was due to the cold and rainy weather, however, those that did come ate well and had a good time!

New Business

  • The Keystone Kruisers Extra Effort Award was presented to Karen CLAYPOOLE. Through her efforts, we enjoyed a visit from Santa Clause at last year's Christmas Party, and she made the "Student" signage for our annual cruise. The signage is Hi-Viz, laminated, and will last for many years. Thank you, Karen, for your extra efforts. It is members like you that make our club the fine organization that it is. Thanks again to a very deserving recipient.
  • The 2018 Keystone Kruisers Christmas Party shall be held on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Cabin Green. The festive affair shall begin at 6:00 pm. The cost is $15.00 per person. This years delectable menu, as voted by the members, shall consist of:
  • Tossed salad
  • Cabbage Rolls
  • Roast Turkey with stuffing balls
  • Whipped ( I call them mashed) potatoes
  • Vegetables
  • Bread and butter
  • Coffee and/or soft drink

Again, the cost is $15.00 per person. Remember, that November and December are the months to pay your 2019 dues. For the meager sum of $15.00, you can retain your cherished Keystone Kruisers Membership!

Christmas Dinner Reservation Forms and 2019 membership renewal forms shall appear online after November 1st. You can pay both by check, payable to Assistant Secretary Belinda OLINGER. Better yet, bring your check to the November meeting and hand it to Belinda in person!

October is the month for the nomination of Club Officers. These nominations are for the people that shall lead the club forward in 2019. Nominations for the Club Officers are as follows:

  • President - Randy KRUSE
  • Vice President/Webmaster - Bill JOHNSON
  • Secretary - Russ COLLAR
  • Assistant Secretary - Belinda OLINGER
  • Treasurer - Sherry MONTGOMERY

NOTE- Voting shall take place at the November meeting. This year, there shall be NO show-of-hands vote. Voting shall be done on a paper ballot with space provided for write-in candidates. These ballots will then be tabulated by a committee and the winners shall be announced immediately thereafter.

Due to the rising costs, the annual DVD of our cruise may not be sent out to all cruise participants this year. The final decision was tabled until the November meeting.

Also, at the upcoming November meeting, we shall discuss and vote on the recipients of the monetary gifts and the amounts to be given in our Christmas Giving Program. Last year, the monies went to The Orphans of the Storm, The Salvation Army, The Armstrong County K-9 Unit and to the Mechling-Shakely Veterans Center. Think about local charities that are deserving and that YOU wish to support.

Sick and Injured:

  • The Club expressed it's sympathy to the COLLAR and MONTGOMERY families on the loss of their mother and Grandmother, respectively.
  • Vice President JOHNSON is in the ACMH, room 317. He is still undergoing tests, and his release date is unknown.

Next Meeting:

  • The next meeting shall be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at Cabin Green. 6 to eat/7 to meet!

As you can see from above, this is an important meeting in that we shall shape the future of our club.

IE: Monies to be donated, Officers to be elected on a paper ballot, dues to be paid and reservations to be made! This meeting is a "Don't Miss!"

See ya then.
Take care and stay safe,
Randy

Hi Folks,

Just a quick note from your Veep/WebMaster to tell you that I am home from the hospital. I am feeling somewhat better but I found out that I am anemic! I need iron so watch your old cars when I am around, I may start to eat them! I have mostly a whole new team of doctors that seem to know how to fix me. I hope!

Thanks & best regards,
Bill...
