From the Prez!
Greetings to all:
The November meeting of the Keystone Kruisers was held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Cabin Green Golf Club. As usual, the kitchen staff provided a delicious buffet, and we (at least I did) gobbled it down (Thanksgiving, gobbled, turkey, get it?) like we hadn't eaten in years! With bellies full, coffee cups refilled, and a satisfying belch, the meeting started. For those of you that were unable to attend, here is a brief synopsis of same:
Members were reminded that this was the final regular meeting for 2014. Regularly scheduled meetings shall resume on March 5, 2015 at Cabin Green. No more of my boring, sometimes funny, but always enlightening, comments till then. "Yippee," said the members in unison!!!
The annual Christmas Party is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2014 at 6:00PM. The menu for the Party was voted on. We chose the buffet meal, as opposed to the sit-down type affair. We shall consume a tossed salad, copious portions of turkey (and stuffing, of course) and/or sliced roast beef, parslied and/or whipped (I still call them mashed) potatoes, and the vegetable shall be California mix. A dessert and soft drinks will be provided, and adult beverages will be available for those who choose to imbibe.
The cost is $15.00 per person. Definitely the best bargain in town! Please check your mail, or see the website for reservation forms and send your money to Russ COLLAR no later that December 6, 2014, so that we may have an accurate headcount.
While visiting the website, also download and print your application for 2015 membership. Dues are $15.00 until December 31, 2014. Renewal costs then jump to $20.00 for 2015, so re-up early! Better yet, save your self a postage stamp, and give your money to Russ at the Party!
Treasurer Sherry MONTGOMERY reported that we currently have $3,961.98 in the bank.
Regarding our Christmas gift donations, after discussion, it was decided that we would give monies to the following in the amounts specified:
* To The Salvation Army of Armstrong County, located in Kittanning, they shall receive $500.00.
* To The Mechling-Shakely Veterans Center, located in Cowansville, they shall receive $500.00.
* To Morgan and Dianne SMITH, longtime club members, a gift of $1,000.00. For those of you that are not aware, Morgan is quite ill, and his insurance does not cover all of his necessary medications. It is hoped that this money will help them out, just a little, during the Holiday season. Remember folks, when you hit your knees tonight, say a prayer to the Big Guy for Morgan and Diane.
Note: Anyone who has clean, serviceable clothing, jackets, bed linens, etc., please consider donating them to The Mechling-Shakely Center for the Veterans. Especially appreciated are any and all Harley Davidson clothing, car related clothing, and T-shirts with logos. Director TALLADAY stated that these are sometimes given away as prizes for Bingo and/or other games. Size is irrelevant, as the Veterans come in all sizes!
It was decided, by a show of hands, to once again have a President's Choice trophy to be awarded to the best student entry at our cruise. Should there be no student entries, the trophy shall be awarded to a deserving participant as chosen by the President. The trophy will be ordered in January of 2015 from McMillen's Trophies of Kittanning.
The election of Club Officers for the following year is always held at the regular meeting in November. Voting was done by a show of hands, and your 2015 Officers are:
Folks, it's been a good year. We had more sponsors this year than in any other year. We gained new members. We have a positive outlook. We are, and we shall continue, growing.. BUT...we can't do it without your help. We are challenging all members to obtain ONE new sponsor for our 2015 cruise. This is YOUR Club. This is MY Club. This is OUR Club!
I honestly believe it is the best in the area, because we have the best people in the area. Get involved, come to the meetings, express your ideas and opinions, and let's see what happens.
