From the Prez!
For those of you that were unable to make it last night, here is a brief synopsis of what happened:
We had 18 members present, and a good meal was enjoyed by all prior to the beginning of the meeting. The chicken wings were great!
The Club was able to obtain 4 free passes (two sets) to the Pittsburgh Auto Show being held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on February 14 through 17, 2014. They were awarded by raffle, with the lucky winners being Dick and Elaine WOLFE and Bill and Sue JOHNSON. Congrats and have a great time!
We currently have 31 paid members, with only 2 not rejoining from last year. Remember to tell your cruising friends about your club.
We decided to once again have a student section at our July car cruise, with the winner being awarded a trophy from McMillen's Trophy's and the runner-up winning a Keystone Kruisers cruise t-shirt. Our cruise flyers are being printed by the same organization as last year, and we shall make a notation at the bottom thanking and recognizing them for their generous contribution. The letters to the local school districts telling them of our cruise have been prepared, and shall be sent out later in the school year.
You can still order a new Keystone Kruisers jacket in the color and style of your choice. See or call Rich ANDERSON ASAP as the orders shall be submitted soon.
Thanks to Russ and Shirley COLLAR, the sponsor letters have been sent, and we have already received 2 responses. Good Job!
We sent 500 preliminary cruise flyers to the World of Wheels Show that was held last weekend in Pittsburgh. Best to get our cruise info out as early as possible. Speaking of the World of Wheels, our own Debby LLOYD won 2 first place prizes for her 1959 Nash, masquerading as a Police car, and Harry LLOYD won 2nd place in his class with his Dodge Challenger. Congrats to both. Our Club was well represented and, as usual, brought home the trophies!
Terry YOCKEY discussed his idea for an antique/classic/muscle car ice-cream poker run. We will use at least 5 local ice-cream stands and a monetary prize shall be awarded to the winner. Sounds like a GREAT idea! It was approved by the membership present, and plans shall go forward. Further information to follow.
Received a Thank You letter from the Mechling-Shakley Veterans Center acknowledging our Christmas donation of over $1,200.00. It was reported that the monies were used to purchase much needed television sets for the residents. I believe this was a wonderful way to say "Thank You" to the brave men and women who defended our country.
After the meeting, Rich ANDERSON brought up a new idea that he calls "Cars and Coffee." The premise is that once a month, local cruisers from all the area clubs will meet at a predetermined restaurant for breakfast and coffee! Think of it: Early morning...Birds chirping...very little traffic, oldies blasting through the single dash speaker of the AM radio, and food and coffee with like-minded people. Sounds like a great idea that we should pursue, and we will at the next meeting. Good thinking, Rich!
It looks like we, as a Club, are headed in the right direction. All we need is YOU. Remember, this is YOUR club. Come to the next meeting on March 6, 2014 at the Cabin Green Golf Club and get in on the exciting action and events that we have planned for this summer. See you there!
Remember to check the Keystone Kruisers website to up to the minute information and locations regarding cruises. Bill JOHNSON does a fantastic job of keeping it current. The site is the place to go for all the cruisin' news all the time! Thanks Bill.
Until next month, Stay Safe. Stay dry. Stay warm!
Note: At least it didn't snow!!!
