From the ex officio President!
21 YEARS STRONG...AND STILL GROWING!
The August meeting of the Keystone Kruisers Car Club was held on August 3, 2017 at Cabin Green Golf Club. There were 18 members present. After a grand buffet, we got down to business. The following is a brief recap of the meeting.
President Anderson reviewed our cruise and the specifics of same. Refer to correspondence previously sent by me for more specific details.
Next years cruise shall be held at the Worthington-West Franklin VFD on Sunday, July 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm. I was approached at this years cruise by Nathan Manfredi, a professional DJ that goes by the name of DJ Manny. He has wireless speaker capability, a full slate of music, including cruise music, and will DJ for us for payment in the vicinity of $250.00. I was tasked with contacting him for the purpose of obtaining further information and possibly contracting him to DJ our 2018 cruise. Nathan's father is a cruiser and attends our cruise.
McDonald's had agreed to donate 8 Hi-Vis safety vests to be our club. These vests shall be worn at our cruise by members at the registration area, and the members parking cars. This will make us more visible to the participants entering the cruise, and will make it easier for them to see and recognize the parking attendants. We shall, upon receipt of same, inquire as to the possibility of having our club logo either silk screened or embroidered on them.
President Anderson also reviewed the YMCA Camp Sherwin Erie cruise. We had 7 cars and 15 people attend. The weather was great! After a breakfast at the Cracker Barrel restaurant in Meadville, we continued to head north. After the cruise, we stopped at the Fairground Market cruise for dinner! It was a great day all around!
The members hand voted to have our annual picnic on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2017. As in previous years, the picnic shall be held at the Collar estate in Cowansville. For those of you who don't know where that is, call and we'll getcha there! Members are encouraged to invite friends, family, anyone that you know that might be interested in cars and having a good time.
As usual, we shall extend the invitation to the AACA of Kittanning to join us in the hopes that they will come and break bread with us. All you need is a dish to share and a seat to sit on. Chicken, hot dogs and other goodies (including place settings and soft drinks) shall be provided by the club. Mark for calendars now for 9/9/17!
Anyone who wants to help, be there about 3:00 pm and we tie on the feed bags at 5. It'll be over when the last person leaves!
Secretary Collar reported that it will cost the club in the vicinity of $450.00 to $500.00 to send out the DVDs of this year's cruise. A discussion was held regarding alternatives to the DVD and other ways to help defray the costs. No decision was made, as the matter was tabled until a future meeting.
A discussion was held on our Club insurance, it's coverage, benefits, and cost. An annual review is in order, and shall be completed to assure that we are getting the best possible coverage for our money.
Due to the annual picnic, there is no formal meeting scheduled for September. The next regular meeting shall be held on October 5, 2017 at Cabin Green. 6 to eat / 7 to meet!
See ya on the road, or at the picnic.
Until then, stay safe
